After baby’s head becomes stable
Holding in a nursing position.
This is the most useful position once the baby’s head becomes stable. Position baby’s legs in an M-shape (knees slightly farther apart than ankles). Half of the pouch cloth should rest under buttocks to back, and the other half should be under buttocks to the back of his knees. When the baby’s legs are straight, his buttocks will eventually come out of the pouch and his entire body will slide down because a very young baby’s buttocks is still small and unstable. When the baby’s legs are positioned like an “M,” he will not slide down because the buttocks is positioned a bit lower than the knees. Do not tighten the pouch edge where baby’s knees are. It only raises his knees and may cause compression under his knees. When babies become 1-2 years old, they develop a “stable” buttocks. Again, babies under one year of age are less developed and the buttocks can slip out of the pouch. Please be patient and keep adjusting the buttocks position until it becomes stable. Some mothers hold the baby too high up, having baby’s head almost as high as her own. A “high positioned” pouch makes the P-sling tail too long, and it may cause hazards such as stepping on it or catching it in doors. If the tail gets too long, wrap one or two times around the ring after holding your baby. You can even cut the tail if this does not solve the problem. If you can not accomplish this alone, please contact us.

Step 1 - Suppose you wear P-sling over your left shoulder. You would then support your baby with your right arm as if you were holding him over your shoulder to burp him.
Step 2 - Grasp pouch cloth on your far side with your left hand, so that you can put your baby in the center of the pouch.
Step 3 - Once you’ve grasped the cloth, slide your baby into the pouch, using both hands.
Step 4 - Make sure the distance between you and your baby feels right.
Step 5-6 - If your baby seems too far from you, pull the tail cloth through the ring near your baby’s back. Note: When you adjust the tail cloth, try to raise your baby’s buttocks gently.
Step 7 - Then your baby is more physically close to you and you will feel more “united.” Just to note, it is okay to have extra cloth on your belly side that seems a little loose. You may use this extra cloth to cover the back of his knees to provide comfort.
* Please keep your baby's bottom lower than both knees for security.
TIP: If you’re your baby falls asleep while you are providing support in the nursing position, put the pouch cloth over his head to provide more stability.
