02. Confirmation of bottom line of tail cloth

Now you must confirm that the bottom edge of the tail cloth is smooth (unbunched). This is especially important. Otherwise, a messy tail cloth will make the pouch (area where baby rests) crooked, which makes it difficult to properly fit your baby into the pouch. From now on, please check this bottom edge of the tail cloth when you can not fit your baby in correctly. Most of the inquiries we receive mentioning babies not resting properly result from an uneven bottom edge of the tail cloth.

Step 1 - Hold the double ring and hang P-sling down. The bottom line of the tail should be very straight.

Step 2 - The tail end, beyond the rigns, should roughly form an isosceles triangle (all sides equal length)

03. Placing the P-sling over your shoulder

Once you have smoothed the bottom edge of the tail cloth, you may now put the P-sling on. Let's assume you put it over your left shoulder. Make sure that the shoulder section of the cloth is not wrinkled, that the back part of the cloth is put on neatly like a sash (left shoulder to right waist), and that the part of the cloth behind your back is pressed securely to your body. Ideally, it should look like a neat sash stretching diagonally from your shoulder to your opposite waist and around your back.

Figure A - Raise your right hand above your head, and move your head through the loop of P-sling so that you wear it diagonally like a sash.

Make sure that the tail cloth is hung to the front, and that the rings are positioned either on top of, or slightly below, the collarbone. If the rings are uncomfortable, you may reposition them as you wish.

04. Fitting

The bottom of the pouch should be positioned approximately 2-3 inches below the navel, although this choice may vary among individuals. If the bottom of the pouch is too low or too high, first take off your P-sling and then increase or decrease the length of the end of the tail cloth at the ring to adjust overall size of the pouch. This assures that the position and the size of the pouch become ideal. Please do not simply pull on the tail in order to change the size of the pouch. The rings only get tighter when you just pull the tail (the cloth around the rings tighten), which only puts weight on the cloth and does not change the size of the pouch. Also, please do not simply pull a single edge or corner of the cloth in order to change the size of the pouch (pull the cloth evenly). Also, beware of the ring position because when the ring slides down as you hold your baby, the tail edge goes down as well and it becomes dangerous (fabric hanging down becomes too long). If P-sling loses proper shape, pull out the entire cloth around the ring, and then readjust the size of the pouch. This may seem tedious, but once you properly set the size of the pouch it will become unnecessary to repeatedly perform adjustments.
