Psny (P-Sling New York Corp.) was launched in the spring of 2005 by Psling & Co. with its corporative company based in Tokyo. “A baby sling should exist not only as a baby carrier but also as an accessory item.” Given this concept, PSNY presents ideal baby slings for stylish parents everywhere in the world.

The idea of Psny baby sling (commonly called “P-sling”) was born when Yasukazu Konno, the company’s founder/COO, saw mothers who were holding their babies with one-sheet fabric while he was visiting hospitals in Central Asia and South America as a consultant for a medical equipment firm in the early 90s. He was impressed by the idea of “baby wearing,” and the fabrics that make a mother and baby become “as one.” Those experiences led him to do some research on various baby carriers on the market at that time, including American baby holders (Baby Sling) and a European Style holder, but he wasn’t be satisfied with any of them

Therefore, he asked his wife, Chizuko Konno (Co-founder/CEO) to create their original baby sling. They thought that simply making functional slings was boring, so they started to make slings that could also serve as fashion accessories parents would enjoy wearing. As a mother, she firmly believed that whatever the mood of a parent, this feeling is transmitted to the baby, so it was clearly very important for a parent to feel happy and comfortable with the sling. Ever since, they have been passionate about creating “P-sling” as key factors in enjoying the parenting experience.

Upon their launch in 2000 as an e-commerce site, their concepts immediately gained general acceptance, and Psling & Co. has been a pioneer as a baby sling brand in Japan ever since. P-sling has been very popular as a must-item among celebrities and stylish parents, and the company now has three main stores in Tokyo. P-sling is also available at many specialty stores throughout Japan.

In 2005, Psling & Co. launched Psny to extend its market with the goal of enhancing the lifestyle of parents in the U.S. Psny offers a wide range of styles and colors which are perfect for those who want to change slings to match clothing as easily as they change bags or shoes. From ring to fabric to design to color, customers can enjoy choosing their own slings from 200 varieties in the Psny collection. The company opened their first store in SOHO (New York) area in September 2005, and continues to expand their brand with original maternity and baby clothing lines.

NY Junior League/Children’s Day Shopping Event
NY Junior League is an organization of women committed to promoting volunteerism, developing the potential of women, and improving communities through the effective action and leadership of trained volunteers. Its purpose is improving the lives of women and children in Manhattan by working with 29 community-based organizations and public agencies to deliver services and assistance directly to those in need.
Children’s Day featured many fun events for the kids as well as great boutique shopping for mothers. Psny participated in this event as one of vendors for support NYJL.

The Children’s Museum of the Arts/Benefit Dinner “Hands on Art”
This fundraising event is held by The Children’s Museum of the Arts (CMA). CMA is New York City's only hands-on art museum for children. Their mission is to create opportunities for children, aged 1 to 12 years old, to reach their full potential in the visual & performing arts. Psny participated as one of advertisers for their Gala Journal, “Hands on Art ” to support this event.

826 NYC/Brooklyn Superhero Supply Co. Spring 2006 Collection
Psny participated in spring 2006 collection for Brooklyn Superhero Supply Co. It was a fundraiser event for 826NYC, a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting students ages 6-18 with their creative writing skills, and to helping teachers inspire their students to write.
We were excited to be in the fashion show of new attire for superheroes along with Marc Jacobs, Rebecca Taylor and other designers. We presented a special baby sling for super daddy. After the show, every costume was put up for auction, and all proceeds went to 826NYC.

The Prenatal Yoga Center/Sling Workshop
As one of contributors, Psny participated in this workshop that teaches how to wear slings and gives an opportunity to practice slings, using various slings and carriers.
As a yoga center, the Prenatal Yoga Center helps parents and children openly explore the mind, body, and spirit. Their goal is to maintain a comfortable and contemplative environment for pregnant women and their families.
